Longtime Buckhead Life Restaurant Group Chef, Crystal Hoang has been hand selected to head the kitchen at Corner Cafe. Crystal’s first experiences in the food industry were at Tybee Island Breakfast Club under the direction of Chef and Owner Jodee Sadowsky, whom she credits with her love of breakfast and her appreciation for hard work and dedication. Crystal’s culinary journey with Buckhead Life began in 2007. A Savannah native, she was no stranger to living in a city heavily influenced by regional cuisine, and Crystal’s innate love of fresh seafood led her to Kyma where she trained under Chef Pano I. Karatassos. Remembering how much she learned in her first few months at Kyma she says, “ I didn’t know kitchens could be like that.”

Crystal was drawn to Kyma’s energy and focus on ingredients of exceptional quality. “The cumulative source of passion and creativity that is coming out of that kitchen was unmatched. Working in that environment was the greatest experience,” she explains. Crystal worked her way through the line, eventually becoming Sous Chef at Kyma. She called Kyma home for six years before moving to Chops Lobster Bar, then Veni Vidi Vici where she realized her love for Italian cuisine.

Crystal is excited to join the Corner Cafe team as Executive Chef and she’s looking forward to finally being able to call a menu her own. Crystal’s style can best be described as fresh simplicity with a focus on seasonality. “I really pride myself on a lot of healthy food. I’ve always been a stickler for superfoods and homegrown ingredients. I love to have a garden, and I try to keep a menu as close as farm to table as possible”, she explains. She’s most looking forward to continuing the Buckhead Life tradition of leadership and mentorship by Executive Chefs, and says, “They committed so much time and training into pushing me and I want to do that for someone else and return the favor.” Crystal looks forward to continuing her career with Buckhead Life, saying simply “My ties here are deep.” When she isn’t in the kitchen, Crystal enjoys volunteering with the Salvation Army, gardening, mountain biking, and rock climbing.

Restaurant Description

Guests at Corner Café and Buckhead Bread Company enjoy baked-on-site pastries, bread, cookies, and special desserts from the European-style bakery. Enjoy locally roasted Pano’s Reserve blend coffee with your freshly baked goods. The café serves a variety of breakfast, brunch, and lunch selections, including salads, soups, and sandwiches.
